Strawberry Time

The picture of Strawberry-Picking was taken about this time three years ago, while for Blueberry-Picking was shot in May 2006.

We plan to do it again this year. When? That's good question.

We called the farm last week and, sadly, the farm is 'picked out' of ripe Strawberries. High picking pressure over the last "Spring Break" means that they will not have ripe Strawberries for the remainder of March. The berries are out there - just not ripe yet. The Strawberry crop looks like it is going to be good but we need to wait until the first week of April.

What? We set the date so we can re-arrange and prepare it as some of us may need it to make a schedule with other commitments.

When? In fact, the "rush day" is Saturday. To accommodate prior commitment with other activities, the Strawberry-picking will be on Sunday, April 13, 2007.

How do we meet? We all meet at the Farm at 9:00am.

If you live in Katy or Houston area, we are planning to depart at 8:00am sharp. (It's about 1 hour traveling).

Next? Leaving the patch about 11:00am and continue to Lake Conroe for Lunch and some outdoor activities for family.

Akhir Dari Hajatan Keluarga

Saya mengenal banyak ragam topi yang beraneka macam bentuknya. Dari beberapa perbedaan topi yang saya kenal itu, paling tidak ada dua hal yang menarik untuk diamati. Pertama, dari segi manfaat. Apapun sebutan atau istilahnya, ternyata hampir semua topi berfungsi sama, yaitu sebagai alat penutup rambut (dalam konteks pemahaman merapikan bentuk rambut). Kedua, dari segi simbolik. Apapun modelnya, ternyata setiap topi dapat me-representative-kan jenis pekerjaan seseorang. Lho kok bisa? Seorang Tentara, Polisi, Pilot, Perawat, Rabbi, atau Pelaut dapat dikenali dengan mudah dari “bentuk topi” yang dikenakannya. Iya to?

Lha bagaimana dengan kopyah (atau peci)? Dari segi manfaat sama dengan jenis topi-topi yang lain. Tetapi dari segi simbolik, Kopyah memang agak berbeda dengan piranti penutup kepala yang lain. Penerimaan secara universal dari semua golongan masyarakat terhadap benda yang satu ini tergolong unik dan sangat luar biasa. Spectrum jangkauan para profesional yang memakai kopyah tidak hanya didominasi oleh jenis pekerjaan tertentu. Mulai dari penjual sate, penjual jasa tambal ban, pengayuh becak, pak RT, pak Lurah, pak Camat sampai ke Presiden, semuanya sudah terbiasa dengan kopyah hitam yang selalu menempel di kepalanya. Itulah hebatnya benda yang bernama Kopyah yang dapat membaur dengan siapa saja.
